The DSTODS2 procedure is available beginning in the fifth maintenance release of SAS® 9.4 (TS1M5) to convert a DATA step program to a PROC DS2 program. The IN= option supplies the name of the DATA step program and the OUT= option supplies the name of the newly created PROC DS2 program. When a fully qualified path is supplied for OUT= option, PROC DSTODS2 can fail with error messages like the following:
The errors occur because the OUT= option does not support a fully qualified path before the name of the file being created. The sample code below illustrates syntax that generates the errors:
The errors can also occur if only a filename is supplied for the OUT= option because the path that is used in the IN= parameter is prepended to the filename supplied in the OUT= option. The sample code below illustrates this:
To circumvent the issue, the new OUTDIR= option can be used to specify the path to the newly created file containing the PROC DS2 code.
